About the job:
The Manager of Applications & Infrastructure is responsible for the strategic planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of all enterprise applications and the underlying IT infrastructure. This role provides leadership to a team of IT professionals, ensuring that the technology stack is secure, reliable, scalable, and aligned with the organization's business objectives. The manager is the key liaison between the technical teams and business units, translating business needs into effective technology solutions.
- Strategic Leadership and Planning:
- Develop and execute an IT roadmap for applications and infrastructure that supports the organization's long-term business goals.
- Stay current with emerging technologies (e.g., cloud computing, AI, automation) and assess their potential value to the company.
- Collaborate with senior management and other department heads to understand technology needs and priorities.
- Oversee the IT budget for applications and infrastructure, managing costs and ensuring a high return on investment.
- Applications Management:
- Manage the entire lifecycle of enterprise applications, including selection, implementation, customization, maintenance, and support.
- Ensure that all applications are performing optimally, are secure, and meet the needs of the business.
- Oversee the management of SaaS (Software as a Service) applications, including vendor relationships, contract negotiation, and license optimization.
- Lead and manage projects for new application rollouts, upgrades, and system integrations.
- Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of the company's IT infrastructureon-premise and in the cloud).
- Ensure system reliability, high availability, and performance through proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and system upgrades.
- Develop and maintain robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans to minimize downtime in the event of an outage.
- Manage and enforce security protocols, including firewall configurations, access controls, and data protection measures.
- Team Leadership and Management:
- Lead, mentor, and coach a team of IT professionals, including system administrators, network engineers, and application support specialists.
- Manage day-to-day operations, including help desk escalations, incident response, and problem resolution.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and professional development within the IT team.
- Conduct performance reviews, manage training programs, and handle recruitment for the department.
- Compliance and Vendor Management:
- Ensure all IT systems and operations comply with industry standards, legal regulations, and internal policies.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors, negotiating contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure quality service and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct regular audits of systems and processes to identify vulnerabilities and ensure security best practices are followed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- 8+ years of IT experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in managing IT infrastructure, applications, and service delivery
- Ability to design, implement, and maintain IT controls that meet SOC audit standards
- Ability to support internal systems integrations and data updates
- Experience managing IT operations in a fully remote or distributed work environment, with proven success
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Experience working with cross-cultural, global teams and aligning with international standards.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse and global team
- Strong background in application management, including experience with enterprise software (e.g., ERP, CRM) and SaaS applications.
- Experience with cybersecurity principles, disaster recovery planning, and data protection.
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Outstanding project management skills with a focus on delivering projects on time and within budget.
- A strategic and business-oriented mindset.
Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., SQL, MySQL).
- Expertise in managing applications and infrastructure for remote teams.
- Demonstrated experience in managing IT operations
- Ability to enforce SOC compliance and general security best practices
